My Time In Cala D’Or, Majorca!

Hola amigos.

So it is a horrible, wet and windy day here in Ireland, and what better day to write a post about my summer holidays! About 2 months ago I went to the gorgeous island of Majorca in Spain, and oh my I don’t even know where to begin!

I didn’t take much selfies or outfit photos because it was my first ever real ‘sun holiday’ (yes, sad I know) and all I wanted to do was relax and soak up the sun. Can you really blame me?

SAM_1010

So Majorca is a beautiful little Island off mainland Spain and we went to the quaint little town of Cala D’Or for 10 days. It was just PERFECT for what I wanted. I am not a lover of hard core partying or tourist towns and Cala D’Or was exactly opposite. It is known for its small, yet breath taking beaches and its white washed buildings. It wasn’t busy or crowded and it was reaching up to 30 degrees every day, sometimes even more!

SAM_1017

Like any place in Majorca, there are elements of tourist attractions, but they are kept out of the way and all grouped together so you can enjoy the peace of the island if you want to, or get involved in activities. The sea water was just, I can’t even find words right now, it was just amazing. It is crystal clear and so so warm. I really advise buying a pair of snorkels in the shops and go out in to the deep parts of the sea it really is beautiful!

Now, let me take a moment to talk about the marina. We went to the marina almost every night and we ate there a few times and it’s just perfect! The restaurants are all seated outdoors and are right on the edge of the sea next to all the boats. The marina really was the highlight of the trip and well worth a visit if you are staying in Majorca!

We didn’t stray too much from Cala D’Or because we didn’t have a car but I really wish we did! On our trip from the airport the island is full of mountains and gorgeous scenery. I wish we could have explored more of the island, but that is for another time I guess!

SAM_1143

SAM_1217

All in all this holiday was just flat out relaxing. I didn’t get up to anything particularly exciting but it was just the R&R I needed! I am still daydreaming about lying on the sand, and it makes me a little depressed just looking out the window here! But maybe that is just a sign of a good holiday!

Thanks for reading!

One Carry On – 10 Outfits!

Hola amigo.

So the summer is coming up. Which means some of us may be fortunate enough to be going on a holiday somewhere, which also means that we have to pack.

And we all know that everyone hates packing.

Nobody wants to spend more money on extra baggage and if you are like me, you will try and squeeze everything into your carry on suitcase, which is all good if you are not an over packer.

But I am.

I over pack way too much! So, I have come up with a little inspiration to help you fellow over-packers too. ❤

The carry on.

One suitcase.

Smashbox Full Exposure – Review!

Hi there.

Smashbox Full Exposure eye shadow palette meet the ladies,

ladies meet the Smashbox Full Exposure eye shadow palette.

Because you are about to meet your next new BFF!

From make up fanatics, to make up I-only-wear-it-when-required girls, you will want to see this.

No really, you will.

The Smashbox palette comes with a mini mascara (which I will talk about later), the palette and a double ended brush (which I will also talk about later)

Oh, and a pretty decent mirror too, which is always good.

The palette.

The palette has a neutral turned nigh time feel about it. It consists of 7 shimmers and 7 mattes all from dark chocolate brown, to a light ebony right up to dark charcoal black.

The palette seems to me to be divided into warm tones and cool tones, which is great for mixing and matching or if you want to stick to the one colour group, and it is also great for beginners to stay to the one colour group if they are unsure how to match shades just yet.

Straight down the middle of the palette you have two neutrals, the Switzerland of the group if you will. These are just two basic nude colours for a base or blending, etc etc.

The left side are the warms. The Sahara desert and Africa if we are sticking to the country references.

This consists of 3 mattes and 3 shimmers. All beautiful. Well pigmented and blend like butter on warm toast.

Gosh I am sorry in advance about all the weird references, I’m feeling a little poetic today.

The right side are the cools. The Antarctica and north pole if you are following me.

Again as with the warms, all beautiful, well pigments and of course blend like never before.

20140403_103806    20140403_103802

The brush.

Well, this is where Smashbox got it all right. This brush is A-MAY-ZING!

Like no joke.

One end is for the mattes, and the other is for the shimmers. The bristles are very tough yet flexible and easy to work with and super good quality. I already cleaned it twice (and in need of a third I’d say) and they are still perfect. The brush is a good length, not too small and a nice weight.

These may seem like silly things to be pointing out, but to some people, a good brush is all the difference!

20140403_103853 20140403_103930 20140403_103939

The mascara.

This mascara is the only, tiny, minor let down. In fact, it’s not even a let down really because its not bad at all, it is just, you know,

grand.

Just like OK, or fine. I wasn’t expecting a mascara (I don’t know how I missed it on the website?) so it was a nice bonus to say the least.

It isn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away either. You know, those kind of mascaras that are handy for throwing on when you don’t have time to do 4 coats and curl. It’s a good size for your purse too, I keep it in my car for those ‘I wasn’t expecting to see you!’ moments.

20140403_103041 20140403_103047 20140403_103145

And last but not least, the swatches.

The moment you have all been waiting for. Now before you go all, ‘Where are the lighter colours?’ they’re there. I just have pale skin right now OK? Don’t remind me about it. 😦

20140403_114002

20140403_103753

I got my palette from Sephora online for $49.

http://www.sephora.com/full-exposure-palette-P383775?skuId=1575018

Pros:

Lots of variety

Cool and warm tones

Blend well

Good pigmentation

Comes with brush and mirror

I have no cons only that it is a bit big for your purse or bag, but we will get over that much!

Other than that, overall it is a great palette, awesome place to start if you are getting into make up and if you are looking to expand your collection.

10/10 from me!

Thank for reading and I hope I have helped in some way or other! Please leave a comment belox if you have any questions or if you want to become Facebook, Twitter or Insta friends, click below! 🙂

One Statement Necklace, 5 Ways To Wear!

S’up?

Statement necklaces are exactly what they say on the tin, they make a statement.

Duh.

But  making a statement in the right way is crucial. It can be hard to find a good balance between the right necklace and outfit. Too bright and you attract attention and too muted it just looks like part of the top.

But never fear!

I have conducted 5 outfits that can pull off any statement necklace beautifully, so hopefully you can get some inspiration from this and use it when styling your own statement pieces!

*Just to clarify, all of these ideas are from me and me only, no copying was done, that’s bold*

Look #1

Lunch date with the girls

State

I love this look! Well, I love all of them, but this one is my favourite as it is so casual, yet chic. The white blazer and grey tee will really pop and compliment the bright colours of the necklace, while the black jeans and accessories will mute and bring together the whole outfit. Can also be worn with some killer heels to dress it up!

Look #2

Shopping day.

statee

Statement necklaces can be worn both casual and dressy, and to be honest, I kind of prefer them on a casual outfit! Distressed jeans are all in this season and paired with a crop sweater is fun and casual, and why not add a pop of colour in the shoes just for fun?

Look #3

Dinner date with the family

sttate

I love love love statement necklaces with high neck tops! They are super flattering and very classy. I paired a fun skater skirt with a grey high neck bodysuit to bring out the colours of the necklace. With a bright coloured one you should keep the outfit quite muted so it really sticks out like a sore thumb! I also added a small shoulder bag and cute heel booties just to make it youthful and fun, perfect for a dinner with the fam!

Look #4

Day in the office

statata

If you work in a dull, fashion-less office, then why not spice things up with some bright jewels! The brighter the better when it comes to an all dark outfit, and the high neckline will look fab under the statement piece!

Look #5

Casual Fridays

sts

Whether it be sight-seeing, shopping or just running errands, tuck that shirt in, hike up those jeans and rock a gorgeous hat for an effortless but really-you-put-in-a lot-of-effort look! I love the striped d’Orsay flats for a nautical and chilled look, but again, could be easily substituted for some heels, or even some booties!

The necklace.

Capture

The beautiful star of the show is from humblechic.com and retails for $45. Plenty of good, colourful statement necklaces can be bought pretty much in any store now, but if this one tickles your fancy, then just click on the picture!

I hope you enjoyed! Please leave a comment I love to hear feedback and positive criticism!

Running Tips For The Beginner!

Hi there.

Do you ever see those annoying tweets, facebook posts or instagrams,

‘Just back from my run!’

‘About to set off on my daily jog!’

‘I love running!’

and the only reason why you hate them so much is because you want to be running too!

But it’s so hard, right?

WRONG!

Running is simple. If you have 2 legs, then there is no excuse. The problem with most beginners is they think that they will be able to run miles in no time.

That unfortunately, is not the case.

Running takes time, energy and a lot of will power, so get reading these tips to help you become that girl everyone envys on Facebook or twitter!

run

  • Accept yourself. Nobody is born with the ability to run 10 miles with ease. You have to accept where you are and how much you can do. If you can only run 1/8 of a mile, so be it! Just accept where you are at, and work on it. Everyone starts somewhere, even Usain Bolt himself couldn’t run 100 metres in under 10 seconds!

ttraavv

  • Practice, practice, practice. Set a goal and stick to it. 5k is a good place to start. Either map it out on your phone or do it on a treadmill, and run. Run as far as you can for as long as you can and when you have to stop walk the rest. The next day, do it again and try and beat where you stopped the last day. Keep going until you can do a full 5k, and then start timing yourself and try to beat it!

Always try and better yourself, you are your biggest competitor.

runn

  • Change up the terrain. So when you have mastered your distance goal, change up the running route. Running on a treadmill can be a massive change to running outside in the open air. Try doing your 5k on a hiking trail or up a hillside. The ups and downs will really challenge you, and don’t worry if you can do 5k on a treadmill and not outside, just work on it!

runnn

  • Fuel yourself. Fuel is the power to all runners. Make sure you eat 2 hours before running and no less. Let your food absorb and let your body take in the nutrients and energy. Stay away from fatty foods before running and stick to healthy carbs, like brown pasta, breads and rice.

ruun

  • Hydrate! Water is essential to keep the muscles moving well. Drink plenty of water all day before and after the run to flush out the toxins you built up from exercising.

large (1)

  • Take care of your body! Injuries are not fun at all for runners, especially when they keep you from training because that is when you have to start all over again! Always wear proper running shoes.

ruurn

  • NEVER run in flat shoes, such as converse or Vans! Nikes are a great investment and will really help with your stride and keep your feet healthy and happy!

rrrr

  • Always stretch after and go for a hot bath that night if you feel a bit stiff.

rrrrrr

  • Do not run out  in sub 0 temperatures, or on super hot days! The heat or cold will damage your body more than help and you could end up with hypothermia or heat stroke! Use the gym instead!

ruru

  • Refuel after you run. Take a quick and easy snack like a banana or a protein shake straight after your run to refuel the muscles and help them heal, and always eat a meal one hour after.

large (7)

  • Spice it up by running on the beach to really feel the burn!

 large (8)

  • Music is the key to staying tough and mentally stable! Make a playlist on your ipod that you only listen to while running!

Well there ya go! I hope this does help if you are starting off or even a regular runner! I used these when I was starting and they really make a difference. Get out there and get moving sister!

Flying Tips For The Travelling Lady!

Hey you.

Do you fear travelling like the plague? I as hell sure do.

Ugh, all that waiting around, security, smelly people, crying babies.

I cannot deal with it.

But in my last few years of extreme travelling, (Im talking 12 hour flights here, and 8 hour layovers) I have figured a few of my own tips and tricks for making my life easier when up in the air, and down on the ground too!

Number 1.

BE ORGANISED!

I honestly cannot stress this enough. Organisation is the key to a successful and smooth flight. I have a few tips on keeping organised that I use all the time!

traaaaa

  • If you have a journal, write a list of must-haves in the back of it about 2 weeks before you go. Every now and then if you remember something, top it up to your list and a few days before you leave, make sure you have every single thing on that list.

travb

  • Keep all travelling documents and ID in a small bag and put that in an easy to reach part of your handbag, AND KEEP IT THERE! I cannot even count the amount of times I have wasted time stressing over looking for my passport and tickets up at the desk because when I was at security I just threw them back into my bag to rush off. DO NOT rush off, take the extra 5 seconds and put them back in the place they belong!

This one is important so listen carefully.

travv

  • ALWAYS put the exact same name that is on your passport, onto your ticket when buying. I never knew this was an issue until I was about to put my shorter name on my ticket a few weeks back, only my mother spotted me doing it! I was very lucky to say the least! Security will not accept a passport and ticket with different names, no matter how small. John Paul Murphy is not the same as John Murphy in security’s eyes, and they won’t be long letting you know!

travvve

  • Make sure you have no liquids over 100ml in your carry-on. That one’s easy.

trra

  • Always keep spare panties, comfortable sweats and socks in your carry-on. You never know if your flight will be delayed, and you don’t want to be forking out in duty free, or even worse, smelly!

Number 2.

KEEP YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU!

ttraa

Travelling for a long time can really play on your mind and you can begin to go a bit loopy. I was in Heathrow, London last year waiting 5 hours for my flight and I kept having to check the notice board to check what time my gate was opening, every 30 minutes because I was forgetting!

So don’t be me, the fool looking getting up to check the notice board every half hour, just write it down.

I honestly don’t know why I didn’t think of that at the time. *Face palm*

ttraavv

If you have a layover, the minute you get into the terminal, find your gate or the general area of it. Believe me, you do not want to waste time in duty-free and when you realise you have 20 minutes to get to the gate, that you have to take a freaking bus to get there! You do not want to be that girl running for dear life through the terminal, shouldering innocent people and busting your bags off poor children.

Been there, done that. Again, *face palm*

tttR

If you want to buy in duty-free, (who doesn’t?) just keep in mind the amount you are buying. Some airlines will be nice and let you on with 5 duty-free bags, some are mean. So be careful and stuff as much as you can into your carry-on, otherwise they will throw it in the under carriage with the luggage, and we all know that Chanel perfume you bought will get smashed. 😦

Number 3.

ON THE FLIGHT

ttravvv

Planes are ALWAYS chilly. If you are feeling a little warm and sweaty on flight, it is probably because you are a little travel-sick. But for the most part, you will be a little on the chillier side, and if you are on a flight less than 3 hours long, there probably won’t be blankets provided, and even at that, the blankets only get washed when they look dirty.

Yeah, gross right?

So always throw an extra layer into your bag, or else wear it on. It is better to have a comfortable flight than to be shivering and uncomfortable.

traaa

If you don’t mind heights, always get a window seat. The views are distracting and you can easily burn an hour just gazing out the window. It may be a pain if you need to get out to the toilet, but it’s better than staring at the seat in front of you for the whole flight!

tttrraa

I always bring deodorant, a perfume sample, face wipes and moisturiser to freshen up before I land, no matter how long the flight is. There is something about flying that just makes you feel so yucky. Time yourself and get up about 45 minutes before you are scheduled to land. (They don’t let you up in the last 30 minutes) Spray some deodorant and perfume or brush your teeth and get back to your seat and cleanse your face  or apply make-up there.

Trust me, you will feel a million dollars when freshened up.

Quick tip: If you are on a long flight ( 6+ hours) bring an energy booster tablet, like the ones that fizzle and dissolve in water and drink it before you land. You will need the energy for custom lines and baggage claim!

tra

So those are all of my tips for now! Don’t worry, I have plenty more tips for packing, but that will come in a different post. 😉

I hope you got some help from this post, and if you are travelling anywhere this summer, I hope you have a fabulous trip!

Thanks for reading and join me on twitter, facebook and instagram!
